Our first day at the Grand Canyon

We took our first showers in Harvey this morning (have no fear, we have been showering all along, just in the campsite showers).  Picture yourself trying to shower in Dr. Who's telephone booth because the shower is even smaller than that.  Lets just say you have to be very flexible to get clean and leave it at that.
This is the shower:

After showers we were off.
I must say the Grand Canyon has a phenomenal shuttle bus service.  We walked over to the visitors center.  We already had planned to do the Bright Angel trail but figured we'd ask as the park rangers are the knowledgable ones. He suggested the sites we're planning for tomorrow so we stuck to our original plan. We hopped on the bus and headed for Bright Angel.  Here's the view where we got off the bus.

We found this cute little squirrel

Turns out he's deadly
Who even knew the plague still existed around here!

Anyways we changed plans and decided to do the rim walk instead. What you're about to see is about 100 photos of the canyon.  I was so amazed I went camera happy.

View thru a crevace:-). That spelling is for Amy.

Amy and I hung over the edge

This is where we started from (we still went further after this so, yes, there are more photos)

Clare took a mile high jump at the edge

Eagles flew above us.

And Amy finally got an ice cream (because she doesn't know the last time she had one).

We hopped on the bus again. The guy at the visitor center told us to go to the village. We were at the stop and opted not to get off because it didn't look like there was anything really there.  At the next stop we decided it must be the right place so we got off and walked back.  We got there and someone told us it was the market place we were looking for.  Thankfully the busses run every 10 minutes.  So we headed to the market place.  If you're ever here make note that they do sell beer and wine at the general store.
Next up, drinks (of course) and dinner.
