Hello Santa Fe!

Carlos got us to the airport in Phoenix and we were off to Santa Fe (well first Clare and Amy had to dump some of their stuff because their bags were over the weight limit...oops).
Grover enjoyed his ride on the people mover.

We went into Cowboy Ciao for lunch (we had time to kill before the flight).

The flight was uneventful for a while.  Super G had a snack.

And Clare tortured Amy while she slept (mind you when Amy is reading this it will be the first she heard of any of this)

About 20 minutes to landing the captain said there was turbulence (as ifwe didn't   already know) and put on the seatbelt sign on. Then the flight attendant came on and said fasten seat belts because there's turbulence and "because its always turbulent coming into Albuquerque!"   I feel the airlines should put this as part of their ads to warn people you may die! And you know she was smiling when she said it.  Evil, evil being!
Anyways, we made it and Amy picked up the car and upgraded us to a Ford Explorer she named Wynona.

And after finally finding our way out of the rental company lot (why wouldn't they have someone sitting in the booth where you go out is all I'm saying) we were off for our drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe!
I was in the back seat but here are some scenes from the road.

Ann O'Brien, throw your hands in the air and yell "it's Jesus!"

So we made it to the Fort Marcy Suites. They left a key with a note that we were in condo 16.  After driving around for 20 minutes we finally found it (its no where near a parking lot).
The condo is fabulous though. 2 floors. One room with a king bed, one with a queen and a pull out couch so after all our 'together' time in Harvey we each have our own space.  There's also 3 baths.  Downstairs has a kitchen, living room (with fire place) and dining area.  I'll have to provide photos later as I was in a rush to catch this sunset.

After sunset we walked down to Mucho Grande for dinner.  It was 8:40 when we got there. They close at 9 but said they'd still seat us.  I ordered the Enchilada in Mole Sauce.  Clare tasted it and was trying to figure out what was in it.  She then said 'can I examine that again'.  Really Clare, examine it?!?   If your ever in Santa Fe it's a good place to go.  Great margaritas and sangria:-). And if anyone has a good mole recipe for Clare please add it in the comments for her.
After dinner we walked back up the hill and got in Wynona to do some shopping (lord knows we need our AM coffee). Again, after some confusion we found the market, got supplies and headed back to the compound.  Everyone got situated and it was off to bed for a good nights rest.

  1. Enjoying keeping up with the blog.
Quick FYI: From the gal who often has the overweight bag...pick up some boxes at the local post office (the ones that are a standard fee - "If it fits, it ships") and mail stuff home. The last time I checked, the medium size was around $12? I use these most of the time when I travel. :) It's a LOT cheaper than over-weight bag fees!
