Arrived at the Canyon That is Grand

I cant believe we've only been traveling a week!  We've done so much and have a week to go!  

 We arrived around 5pm to the Grand Canyon!  Immediately after passing through the entry gate we opted to skip going directly to the camp site and head out to the rim. But first we had to get past this gigantic deer in the road.  We saw some moose too. 

We headed to the timeline tour section of the rim.  We had to stop for a photo op along the way. 

We then headed out to the rim.  It is spectacular!  Here's our first views:

We then headed to the camp ground to park Harvey, set up and have some bevvies. On the way we passes these guys on the side of the road:

Amy pointed out we are right between the bathroom and the shitter line. 

The bathroom is the building to the left of the photo and you will note that we opted to leave the hose from Harvey plugged to the sewer.  Prime real estate Clare says. 

Now we're watching the sun set and making dinner.  Good times!

Clare and I took a wander around the site and found some new fuzzy bunny friends (they're grey so you have to look close). 

This ones for Jeff.  The people two doors down have the gopher from Caddy Shack in their front window (oddly Amy was just talking about this on our drive). 

It got a bit chilly so we're heading in now. 

Tomorrow we'll be wandering around the canyon; hopefully we don't get lost!
